Oh No! Facebook thinks I’m Spam!?
I’ve seen it all over. Facebook has been marking pages Spam, disallowing blogs from linking on Facebook and as of now there’s no way to fix it. But, I’m here to share a workaround with you. This is so good you’re not even going to care that you’ve been banned from your own fanpage. And, you’re going to wonder why you haven’t used this before!
Just a note: Gimmie has NOT been marked Spam or shutout from Facebook. But, I’ve seen a lot of great sites with this problem, and wanted to share how you can fix it. If you know of a site suffering from this unjust punishment, please share this post with them!!
Why does Facebook think I’m Spam? It’s not really Facebook “thinking” anything. When fan pages (you) tag company pages by linking to them in their status by typing @ before their name, (your page’s) update also appears on the tagged page’s status. Their fans see your update. Some fans, even though they’re probably visiting the site for coupons or freebies, seem to have it out for freebie pages. And, some freebie pages do tag over and over again, thus sort of crossing the line of spamming. So, fans mark the status update as Spam. Get enough of those bad marks and Facebook takes action. That action, unfortunately, is to disallow you from posting status updates linking to your blog!
How do I contact Facebook to fix this? Therein lies the problem. You can’t just “contact Facebook.” If you try to call some random number you found by Googling it, you’ll quickly learn that they just aren’t taking calls. You can submit the report when it tells you you’re Spam, but I’ve heard people say they’ve been waiting for a response for weeks – and I’m talking up to 6 weeks.
So, what can I do? I can’t link to my blog! As you can imagine, being shut out like that can be devastating to a blogger. Here’s the solution! Check out HootSuite!! Not only can you post links to your blog, you can schedule them in advance, you can monitor real-time tracking, and lots more. Even if you’re not a Facebook shutout, you’re going to LOVE HootSuite and wonder why you didn’t start using it sooner! They have a free version, and a premium version.
I have been using HootSuite for a few years, but just recently starting doing Facebook fanpage updates through it. I am in LOVE with it (especially the part where you can schedule updates!!) Think about it, you’ll never miss another “upcoming freebie” because you can have HootSuite tell your fans 15 minutes before it starts, whether you were distracted by something shiny or not!
Clicking the link above will give me credit for referring you. But, if you’re locked out on Facebook I just saved your life, right? 🙂
